Look Alike Contest – Japanese Karura Mask

Aliyah would like everyone to know that she is able to channel more people than just Judy Garland, thank you very much. In fact, Aliyah can breathe life into mythical beings and even inanimate objects when she so chooses. That is just how versatile she is!

Take for example, this totally non-threatening figure below:

Now imagine, if you will, a budding young performance artist auditioning for the Gigaku, a Japanese religious performance for Buddhist temple ceremonies. In the performance, Karura is a mythical giant bird that protects the Buddhist faith. Aliyah is now going to try out for the part of Karura, taking inspiration from the above mask she found at the Kimball Museum in Fort Worth, Texas. (https://www.kimbellart.org/collection/ap-200502)

Wait for it…

Wait for it…

Are you ready?

And yes, she really was trying to imitate the mask and not just trying to scare the docents. And to prove it, she did it again –even scarier– just for you. You’re welcome.

Which just goes to show that you DON’T have to choose between being scary and being adorable. You can do both at the same time!

Have a wonderful week, big scary sweet hugs to you!
